  • Scheffler faces four charges, including felony assault, after an incident outside Valhalla Golf Club.

Scottie Scheffler, a professional golfer, had his court date postponed after being arrested during the PGA Championship for injuring a police officer and disobeying commands. The incident occurred outside Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Scheffler had been due in court on Tuesday, two days after finishing in the top ten at the PGA, but the judge postponed the arraignment until June 3.

Scheffler faces four charges, including felony assault, over injuries a Louisville police officer suffered during the encounter. The incident took place while officers were investigating a tournament volunteer’s death after he was hit by a bus outside the golf course. Scheffler, who was driving a PGA courtesy car, allegedly refused to comply with commands from the officer and accelerated forward, dragging the officer to the ground.

Although Scheffler’s attorney has claimed the incident was a misunderstanding and that the golfer did not disobey any officer’s orders, Scheffler was briefly jailed but managed to make it to the course in time to play the second round and shot a 66. Despite the legal troubles, Scheffler tied for eighth place in the tournament.
