The incident occurred as officers were investigating a tournament volunteer’s death when Scheffler arrived in a PGA courtesy car and reportedly refused to comply with officers’ commands, dragging an officer to the ground.
Scheffler’s attorney, Steve Romines, claims it was a misunderstanding, stating that the golfer never disobeyed any officer’s orders. Despite the arrest, Scheffler managed to play in the tournament, shooting a 66 in the second round but falling out of contention with a 73 in the third round. He ultimately tied for eighth place in the championship.
